Summary

British Colombia’s Provincial Health Services Authority launched We Are Allies in partnership with community organizations across Canada. The campaign aims to share advocacy information and stories, and to support trans, Two-Spirit, and non-binary youth in accessing gender-affirming care.

The Website features nine campaign messages on gender diversity and related care, introductory videos on gender-affirming care, self-advocacy resources, and video stories from youth, caregivers, Indigenous leaders, and health professionals.

The Module is a free, three-part media literacy course on the spread of health misinformation.

Practice & Policy Implications

  • The Website’s campaign messages can help inform health providers on the range of gender-affirming care that supports trans, Two-Spirit, and non-binary youth.
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ allies can learn how to identify and address the spread of gender-affirming care misinformation with the short Module.
  • Centring the voices of diverse storytellers through videos can create authentic and impactful advocacy messages.
