The Trans Wellness Initiative brings community members, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers together to improve the health and well-being of trans and non-binary communities. The Queer and Trans Health Collective, an initiative collaborator, worked with their 2021-2022 cohort of Investigaytors to design these resources.

The Healthcare Providers Tip Sheet offers tips for providing affirming care to 2SLGBTQIA+ patients in Alberta.

The Self-Advocacy Tip Sheet is a resource to help 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals navigating health systems in Alberta.

Policy & Practice Implications

  • The healthcare providers tool provides tips on making practices more inclusive through three facets: intake forms, clinic environments, and affirming interactions.
  • The self-advocacy tool can inform frontline workers supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals as they navigate the health care system.
  • The tip sheets were co-created through a two-year mentorship program run by and for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, modeling both community-engaged research and peer mentorship.
