Summary

The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights is based in Edmonton. They work to advance dignity, freedom, justice, and security by educating communities on peace and human rights. In collaboration with the Righting Relations Non-Profit Sector Change Lab they created this Toolkit for people who work with or in the non-profit sector. It builds on their shared 2021 report focused on the challenges of the sector and strengthening capacity for transformation. The toolkit reflections explore changes needed to the values and principles that guide the work of the non-profit sector and offer a decolonial model of transformation.

Practice & Policy Implications

  • The toolkit offers reflection activities to support employees who might be experiencing toxicity in their workplace.
  • The artistic and narrative approach invites organizations and individuals to become more aware of the nuances of colonial models of charity.
